Types of transportation IC cards
Anonymous Suica card
The Suica card is a JR East transportation IC card that can be used on trains, buses, shopping, etc. It features an illustration of the Suica penguin, the mascot of the card.
With your Suica card, you can use trains, buses, etc. in the Kitaca, Suica, PASMO, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa, SUGOCA, nimoca, Hayakaken, icsca, and odeca areas from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
This is a transportation IC card that anyone can use; by simply charging the card, you can automatically pay the fare for your travel section by tapping it at the ticket gate.
It can also be used as electronic money. Just tell the cashier "Suica" and touch your Suica to pay.
Suica has a recharge function, so even if your balance is low, you can recharge it with cash at ticket vending machines at stations or convenience stores.
National transportation IC card (compatible with anonymous Suica cards)
ICOCA, Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, SUGOCA, Hayakaken, and nimoca are interchangeable with Suica and PASMO, and can be used as substitutes for anonymous Suica cards and anonymous PASMO cards.
You can board trains, buses, taxis, etc. that accept Suica or PASMO in exactly the same way as with Suica or PASMO.
You can also use it as electronic money by simply telling the cashier "I'll pay with Suica (transportation IC card)" and tapping your ICOCA, Kitaca, etc.
Just like Suica or PASMO, you can add money (charge) to your card at ticket vending machines in stations or convenience stores where you can charge your Suica or PASMO card.
You can also use different cards with different designs depending on your purpose.
Local Suica card
A regional collaboration IC card is a card that combines the functions of Suica with the functions of a transportation IC card for buses operated by regional bus operators.
It can be used as Suica at locations nationwide where Suica is accepted.
You can enjoy your Suica with a design that is different from others.
Commemorative cards (commemorative Suica, commemorative ICOCA, commemorative nimoca, etc.)

The commemorative card, like the green anonymous Suica card, can be used at public transportation facilities and convenience stores nationwide.
Local Card
A local card can only be used in that area.
Currently, 10 types of cards are interoperable: Suica (including Local Suica), PASMO, Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa, SUGOCA, Hayakaken, and nimoca.
Suica is available at major credit cards nationwide.
